Many new Dubai homes now come with smart features: app-controlled lighting, climate control, smart locks, video intercoms and automated blinds. They add convenience, and they add more things that need to work properly at handover.
Why smart features need snagging
Automation depends on the electrical installation, wiring, network and configuration all being right. A fault in any of them can leave a feature partly working or not working at all.
What to test
- Lighting scenes and switches respond correctly in every room
- Thermostats and AC zones respond to their controls
- Smart locks, intercoms and access control operate reliably
- Motorised blinds and curtains run smoothly and stop correctly
- Control panels, sensors and devices are properly installed and finished
Documenting the issues
As with any snag, findings should be recorded with photos, a description, location tagging and a severity assessment, so the developer can rectify them before handover.
